4th education program @ Chiang Rai Youth Detention Centre

LIFT held its 4th education program at the Chiang Rai Youth Detention Centre. Our main activity was the “water exchange” to show how easily STIs are contractible, if proper protection is not used and especially for those who change partners frequently. There were 62 male students and 3 female students.

Wiang Kaew Community Income Generation Projects

LIFT visited the Wiang Kaew community and provided 2 families with month old piglets for their income generation program. Each family was given 2 piglets each, along with food and basic starter equipment. LIFT will work closely with the families and continue visiting throughout the year.

Baan Don School

LIFT ran a special program at Baan Don School with the topic of “Prevention and solutions to drug problems for children and adolescents”. There were 100 students in attendance from grades 4-9 including students not in school.

Special Program with Sahasart School

Together with the youth detention centre, LIFT held a special program with Sahasart School, talking about the topic of “Teen culture and society”. This is to help students think about the dangers of society and how to prevent and handle situations. 30 Students from years 7-9 were in attendance.

Doi Hang Temporary Prison

Our 2nd activity at Doi Hang Temporary Prison with the topic of “Attitudes About Sex”, so that inmates can think about the consequences of unprotected sex and the truth about condoms, which aren’t 100% safe.

Additional activities included an exercise to express opinions about who is at risk of HIV infection more than one another. This is to show that a person’s behaviour is how to tell if someone is of higher risk of HIV, not their looks, age, sex or job. There were 24 people in participation.

Wiang Kaew Vittaya School

Running an education activity @ Wiang Kaew Vittaya School, under the subject of “Imagine Love”. This is to help students understand love, attitude towards sex, to make informed decisions about intimacy while a student, and what could happen when you’re not ready or prepared. 52 youths participated in the program. 39 male students and 13 female students.

Boba and Smoothie income generation project

LIFT has provided some initial start up costs and equipment, to help set up a boba and smoothie store for an income generation project. This helps Pii and Phu’s mum earn money for their schooling expenses.

Special Program @ Plong Vitayakom School

Together with the cooperation of the Chiang Rai Youth Detention Centre, we held a special education program at Plong Vitayakom School, with the theme of ‘Sexually transmitted diseases / Preventing and solving the problems of unwanted pregnancies’. 120 year 10 students participated in the special program.
